KOTA KINABALU: Warisan is set to launch its West Malaysian wing on Dec 17 with a focus on certain areas, its president, Shafie Apdal, said today.

Shafie said this would ensure that Warisan had ample time to make preparations in these specific areas, so as to make a bigger impact in the coming general election.

While it was important for Warisan to spread its wings to the peninsula, the former Sabah chief minister said, he did not want the party to have unrealistic ambitions like setting up divisions in every area.

“We have to be selective. There are some areas where we will not open divisions because we do not have enough time,” he said after a Putatan Warisan event last night.

The Semporna MP said Warisan already had a list of people to be appointed acting leaders in the selected states and parliamentary areas, adding that he had met some of them in Kuala Lumpur.

Once its Peninsular Malaysia wing was launched, Shafie said, the party would work closely with Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s Muda.

“I have already discussed this with Syed Saddiq and Muda’s leadership. We are also aware that Muda has yet to be registered. That’s why I met their leaders to see how our cooperation can be realised,” he said.
